Samuel DeMaria Jr., MD is the Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine. He holds the dual appointment of Professor in his home department as well as the department of Otolaryngology. Dr. DeMaria did his residency at Mount Sinai, where he was a Chief Resident. Since that time, he has served in numerous leadership roles for the department including as a residency program director, simulation center co-director and division chief for liver transplantation. His research interests center around clinical trials and patient-centered perioperative outcomes, as well as simulation-based education and performance studies. He has authored over 100 publications, edited several textbooks and received numerous research and teaching awards for his work in the department.
