Dr. Anand Sukumaran (pronouns: he/him/his) is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Student and Trainee Mental Health program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After graduating from the Psychiatry residency program at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Dr. Sukumaran completed fellowships in Addiction Psychiatry and Community Psychiatry (with a focus on College Mental Health) at Yale University. He worked for several years in Yale’s Mental Health & Counseling department treating undergraduate, graduate and professional school students, and was also involved in clinical supervision and educational activities with Psychiatry residents and fellows. Dr. Sukumaran is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry and has advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy through the Psychoanalytic Association of New York, affiliated with NYU School of Medicine. His areas of interest include young adult mental health and substance use, LGBT mental health, and cultural/diversity issues.
